Washing Machine Problems Troubleshoot

Washing machines have been around for over 100 years, but they’re still not perfect. They’re prone to breaking down and malfunctioning at any time, so knowing how to repair them is important.

The Washer Won't Start.

If your washing machine won't start, check the fuses first. Fuses are located inside the washer and should be replaced when they burn out. Next, try turning off the power to the unit by unplugging it from the wall outlet. Then turn the power back on and see if the washer will start up again. If it does, then there's probably something wrong with the motor. You'll need to take the washer apart to find out what's going on.

The Washer Stops Spinning.

If your washing machine isn't spinning at all, check the fuses again. They're usually located near the top of the washer and should also be replaced when they burn. Next, turn off the power to the washer by unplugging it. Then turn the power on and see if the machine starts up. If it does, there's probably something wrong in the motor. You'll have to disassemble the washer to figure out what's causing the problem.

The Washer Runs But Does Not Wash.

There are several reasons why a washing machine might not wash properly. First, make sure the water level is correct. You should fill the tub with at least 1/2 inch of water. Next, make sure the detergent has dissolved completely. Detergents work by breaking down stains and dirt particles. Make sure there isn't any residue left behind. Finally, make sure the clothes are clean before putting them in the washer.
