Troubleshooting Electric Stoves
The first thing to consider when troubleshooting an electric range is whether there is a problem with the wiring in the wall. If that doesn’t fix the issue, then we’ll take a closer look at the stove itself.
A faulty power cord could cause the stove not to turn on. To test the power cord, plug it into another outlet and see if the stove turns on. If it does, then check the power cord’s continuity by touching each end of the cord together. If the stove won’t turn on, then try replacing the power cord.
Next, check the burners. Make sure there isn’t any debris stuck between them. If so, remove it with a spoon or knife. Then, make sure the burners are clean. You can use a small brush to scrub off any residue left behind after cooking.
Check the oven’s temperature by placing a thermometer inside. It should read 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius). If not, adjust the dial until it reads correctly.
Make sure the cord is properly connected to the outlet. If it isn’t, check the plug itself. If there is no power at the outlet, then the problem lies with the wiring.
Next, check the thermostat settings to make sure they’re set correctly. You should aim for a temperature between 60°F and 80°F (15°C and 27°C). If the temperature is too high, turn down the heat setting. If it’s too low, turn up the heat setting.
