The first step is to check the electrical connection between your oven and the power source. Make sure that your oven is securely plugged into a working power outlet and that no other appliances are competing for the same outlet. If you have any doubts, unplug it, check the wiring, and make sure it is properly connected and securely inserted into the socket before plugging it back in.
Once you’ve ruled out a faulty connection, the next step is to check the heating element itself. Unplug your oven, take off the back panel, and visually inspect the coil for signs of damage or wear and tear. If it’s worn out or broken, you’ll need to replace it with a new one that’s suitable for your model Defy oven before putting the panel back on and testing it once more.
If your heating element is still in good condition, the next thing to check is the Vitaplex fan or filter. It’s possible that a buildup of dirt and dust can be blocking air flow and preventing it from getting hot. Give all of your vents and filters a good clean with a vacuum cleaner and then wipe them down with a damp cloth, taking care not to unplug any plugs or wiring on the way. Once everything has been thoroughly cleaned, put it all back together again and test your oven’s heating capabilities!
Another thing to check is the light bulb or switches that power your oven. Give both a visual inspection and make sure they haven’t blown out or become loose. If you find an issue, replace it right away and test the oven again. If it is still not heating up, then you may need to take the oven in for repair or replacement.
