Repair Solutions When Your Washing Machine Won’t Spin or Drain

Washing machine fault finding : Is your washing machine not draining or spinning?

The first step in diagnosing and repairing your washing machine is to make sure there’s no water coming into the machine. Check the pressure switch, located next to the water inlet hose, to see if it’s getting power when you start up the washing machine cycle. If not, replace the switch. If there is power coming through, check for possible blockages or kinks in the water inlet hose.

If your washing machine isn’t draining properly, the next step is to check the drain pipe for obstructions like lint, dirt or even small items that have gotten stuck. To get a better view of the pipe, you may need to remove it from the wall and clean out any debris that is preventing your washer from draining correctly. If necessary, use a plumbing snake or an auger to clear away larger blockages.

Inspect the drum and motor assemblies of your washing machine to check for any issues. Start by examining the rear and top panels, as well as the back of the drum assembly, to make sure that it rotates freely. If any debris or other objects are stuck in the machine, remove them and check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, then you may need to replace the motor cassette or other component for it to spin properly again.
