Mould fridge removal
Cleaning mold from the refrigerator can be a difficult task, but it is important for maintaining a healthy environment and preventing unwanted odors. With this step-by-step guide, you can clean your fridge of mold quickly and safely!
Before you begin cleaning mold out of your refrigerator, it is important to empty the fridge of all its contents. This includes food, drinks and any other items that may be blocking access to the shelves. Once you have completely emptied the inside of the refrigerator, use a damp cloth to wipe off any loose debris or excess build-up of dirt. Then, use an all-purpose cleaner on the inside walls, shelves and drawers. Finish off with a clean disinfecting solution or a mixture of water and bleach solution to eliminate any remaining mold spores.
Baking soda is a great ingredient for scrubbing away surface mold on the inside of your fridge. Mix half a cup of baking soda with two cups of water and use a soft-bristled brush to apply the solution onto all parts of the fridge, being sure to focus especially on areas where you noticed mold in the first place. Let it sit for around 10 minutes before wiping off with a warm damp cloth. This will help disinfect and remove any residual mold.
After scrubbing with a solution of baking soda and water, use a non-toxic disinfectant spray or solution on hard surfaces. Some natural options include vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, grapefruit seed extract, or tea tree oil. Spray onto the surfaces where you previously noticed mold and let sit for several minutes before wiping away with a dry cloth. Avoid using chemical-based cleaners on your fridge as they can be unsafe to breathe in and may damage the appliance.
If you’re dealing with stubborn mold growth, use a dry clean cloth to remove it. Be sure to wear gloves and a face mask or respirator during this process, as the spores may be dangerous if breathed in. You can also use a mop or broom to sweep away heavy infestations of mold. Finally, use a dry disinfectant powder like baking soda after manual removal of the mold to further prevent it from coming back.
Mold can hide in hard-to-reach areas in your refrigerator, and you’ll need more than just a cloth to combat it. Prepare a mixture of vinegar or hydrogen peroxide with water, and use a spray bottle to disperse it over the affected area. Leave the mixture on for several minutes before wiping it away with a clean cloth. It should get rid of any remaining spores, preventing further mold infestations.
