Before you start servicing your ice maker, it is important to unplug the fridge in order to prevent any electric shocks or any other accidents. To do this, locate the power cord and unplug it from the wall socket. Once this is done, you can proceed with cleaning and servicing the ice maker.

The first step to cleaning and servicing the ice maker is to remove the ice maker tray and the plastic guard cover. The guard cover will be found at the top of the ice maker, while the tray itself can be located at the bottom. To remove them, simply pull gently on each component until they come off easily. Once removed, set them aside in a safe place.

Now that the ice maker tray and guard cover are removed, you can begin to disassemble the components of the ice maker so that they can be cleaned. Begin by unscrewing the screws that secure the various plastic pieces to the main body of the ice maker. Be sure to keep track of where every screw goes for easy assembly later. Once all of the components are dismantled, use a soft washcloth and warm soapy water to clean all parts which have come into contact with water or frost. When finished, rinse them off with cold water and allow them to dry before reassembling.

Once all of the parts are reassembled, you can then check to make sure there is no leakage. This can be done by running a cycle to dispense some ice cubes, checking around all of the parts for leaks and drips. If you find any leakage, you may need to replace sealing gaskets or other components that are not properly secured or have worn down over time. Be sure to refer back to your manual when disassembling and reassembling your ice maker in order to ensure everything is kept secure.

  1. Clean the interior often : Wipe down the shelves, drawers and walls with a mild soap and water solution  so that you can  remove any spills or stains.
  2. Defrost the freezer: Frost buildup can reduce the efficiency of your fridge, so make sure to defrost the freezer when the frost reaches a thickness of about 4-5mm.
  3. Check the door seals: Ensure that the door seals are clean and airtight. If the seals are damaged, replace them immediately to prevent cold air from escaping and warm air from entering.
  4. Keep it organized: Arrange food items in a way that allows air to circulate freely. Don’t over pack  the fridge, as this can reduce its efficiency.
  5. Set the temperature correctly: Keep the temperature of your fridge between 37°F and 40°F and the freezer at 0°F. This will help to keep food fresh and prevent spoilage.
  6. Clean the exterior: Wipe down the outside of the fridge  with a soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
