Fridge making loud noise
Is your fridge making an annoying noise? If you're hearing a humming, buzzing, or clicking sound coming from your refrigerator, then it could be a sign that something's not right. Here are some of the most common causes of fridge noise, and how to fix them.
One of the most common causes of a noisy fridge is fan blades touching against other parts in the freezer. Check inside your refrigerator and make sure that all the fan blades are properly secured and not obstructing movement. If they’re stuck or getting caught on something, use a pair of pliers to readjust them back into place.
Warped or worn doors and gasket on your refrigerator can also cause noise. A bad fit or a poor seal will cause outdoor air to leak in and out of the fridge, creating noise. Inspect the door gaskets of your refrigerator to make sure they’re in good condition and tightly fitted against the frame. Try replacing the gasket if necessary to reduce any irritating noise.
Your refrigerator is equipped with a water supply line that delivers water to the ice maker or dispenser. If this line has an issue, it can create a buzzing noise. Make sure that the water supply isn’t crossed or kinked and also check for loose connections between the pipe and the refrigerator’s body. Also, inspect your filter to make sure everything is running smoothly.
If your fridge is situated near vibrating objects such as a washing machine, it can create unnecessary noise. Try to move the refrigerator away from these objects and see if the noise decreases. It may also help to place something between the refrigerator and the object in order to dampen vibrations. Additionally, inspect walls or nearby cabinets that could be pushing against and vibrating your fridge. Make sure to add some sort of barrier material between your fridge and wall/cabinet in order to reduce noise.
