Having your AEG dryer not spinning can be a major inconvenience, but you don’t have to panic – by following some simple troubleshooting steps, you can easily identify and resolve the issue. Read on to learn more about potential causes and how to fix them!

One of the most common causes of a dryer not spinning is a power or electrical issue. Check to see if your outlet is providing power, and verify that all connections are secure. If necessary, unplug your dryer and plug it back in. You could also try switching to another outlet. If these steps don’t help, replace the fuse, circuit breaker, or power cord as needed.

Blockages can easily cause the dryer to not spin. Be sure to check your lint trap, exhaust hose, and vent pipe for built-up lint or other debris. If any blockages are found, use a vacuum cleaner with an appropriate attachment to remove them. Also inspect the belt and pulley mechanism inside your dryer for any blockages that could be preventing the drum from spinning.

Check to see if the drive belt is still attached and in good condition. If it’s too worn or stretched, it can cause the dryer to not spin properly. To check this, open up your dryer and remove the drive belt from its axle. Make sure it isn’t excessively worn out or frayed in any way. Replace the belt if necessary and then try running your dryer again.

The drum support bearings can become worn out over time, causing the dryer to not spin properly. To check if this is an issue, open up the dryer and locate the back panel on the inside. This will reveal where the drum support bearings are located. Gently remove them from their slots and inspect them for any signs of wear or tear. If they appear to be damaged in any way, replace them with a new set as soon as possible and then test your dryer again.

Dryer Not Spinning - Troubleshooting Guide

If your dryer isn't spinning, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the power source.

Ensure the dryer is plugged in and the circuit breaker hasn't tripped.
  2. Inspect the door switch.

Make sure the door is properly closed and the switch is working.
  3. Examine the belt.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the drum. If it's difficult to turn or the belt is broken, it may need replacing.
  4. Look for obstructions.

Check for any items stuck in the drum or around the edges that may be preventing it from spinning.
  5. Test the motor.

If the dryer makes a humming noise but doesn't spin, the motor may be faulty.
  6. Check the drive motor.

Inspect the pulley or motor shaft for damage or wear.
  7. Inspect the rollers.

If they're worn out or damaged, they may need to be replaced.
  8. Test the start switch.

Make sure it's functioning correctly by testing continuity with a multimeter.
  9. Look at the idler pulley.

If it's not maintaining tension on the belt, it may need adjustment or replacement.
  10. Examine the drum bearing.

If it's worn out, the drum may not spin properly.

If you're unable to identify or fix the issue, it's recommended to contact a professional appliance repair service.
