Have you been frustrated with the issue of your Whirlpool dishwasher not drying? Don't worry, it is a fairly common problem and can be fixed rather quickly. In this guide, we'll help you troubleshoot the issue and get your dishes dry in no time!

The first step when troubleshooting your Whirlpool dishwasher not drying is to check the racking. Make sure that dishes aren’t blocking exhaust vents or obstructing the arms from turning. Be sure that dishes are spaced apart and cups, bowls, and other items are not nesting together. Also, check the parts of the dishwasher around the racks to ensure nothing is blocking airflow.

The filter mesh traps food particles to help keep the dishwasher clean, but it also needs to be cleaned regularly. To do this, remove the lower rack and inspect the filter mesh located at the bottom of your machine. Pull out any debris you find here and make sure to discard it carefully. Once clear, replace the rack and use a cloth or scrubbing brush to clean away any remaining residue left behind.

Water temperature is one of the most important factors when it comes to dishwasher performance. Make sure that your water heater is set to a minimum of 120°F, as this will help ensure your dishes have all been properly cleaned and dried. You can also use the Whirlpool recommended detergent, which helps to activate what’s known as “power dry,” driving out even more moisture from your dishes for superior drying results.

Check that your dishwasher’s tub fins and heater post holes are free from residue or sediment buildup. This can inhibit heat transfer, preventing water temperature from reaching its necessary mark for proper drying. Should you find any build-up or residue in these areas, simply use a vacuum cleaner to clear the blockage away. Be sure to check both sides of the tub fins and heater post holes.
