Whirlpool oven
If your Whirlpool oven won't turn on, there could be any number of possible issues. From defective door switches to power supply problems, this guide covers the most common causes of an oven not turning on, plus solutions for each one.
The very first step to troubleshooting an oven that won’t turn on is to make sure you have power. Check the circuit breakers and make sure that the oven’s outlet is plugged in properly. If there doesn’t appear to be a problem with power, move onto the next possible issue.
If the oven won’t turn on, the circuit breaker may be tripped. This could be either in your home’s main electrical box, or a separate box just for your oven. If you have an individual circuit breaker dedicated to the oven, it will likely look something like one of the ones pictured below. Look for a switch in the “off” position – this indicates that the breaker is tripped and needs to be reset.
If the circuit breaker is not tripped and the oven still won’t turn on, you may need to test the temperature sensor. This is a small wire that runs into the oven and measures its internal temperature. To do this, disconnect the power supply to the oven, then use an ohmmeter to measure resistance on both ends of the wire. If it fails to register a consistent reading or reads 0 ohms, it needs replacing.
The next step in troubleshooting a Whirlpool oven that won’t turn on is to verify the oven control panel is working properly. Try turning the oven on by pressing the power button and see if any lights come on or if you hear a clicking sound coming out of the oven. If it doesn’t respond, your control panel may have failed and needs replacing.
