Ways to Prevent Tumble Dryer Problems

Tumble dryer repairs in Durban

Tumble dryers use hot air to quickly dry clothing. They’re often used in combination with other appliances, like dishwashers and washing machines, to save energy and water. But sometimes these appliances fail, leaving you without a working machine. We offer only the best appliance repairs in Durban.

Check the thermostat.

If your dryer isn’t heating up at all, check the temperature setting on the thermostat. It should be set between 120°F and 140°F (49°C and 60°C). If it’s too low, turn it up; if it’s too high, lower it.

Clean the lint filter.

To clean the lint filter, remove the door panel by lifting it up and pulling it off. Remove the lint screen by removing the screws holding it in place. Then pull the lint screen out of the machine and wash it thoroughly using warm water and soap.

Replace the air filter.

If your dryer has stopped heating, check the thermostat first. It’s possible that the temperature setting was set too high. If not, replace the air filter.

Check the venting system.
Next, check the venting system. Make sure that the vent pipe isn’t blocked by anything (like clothing) and that it’s clear of debris. If the vents aren’t working correctly, try cleaning them out.

Check the door seal.
Another thing to check is the door seal. This is where the door meets the wall. It should fit tightly against the wall so that air cannot escape. If it does not, then the door needs to be replaced.

Why Tumble Dryers Struggle To Turn And What You Can Do About It
Appliance repairs

Tumble dryers are designed to spin clothes inside a drum while hot air circulates around them. The heat causes moisture in the clothing to evaporate, which dries the fabric. This process works best when the machine is turned on for long periods of time.

If your tumble dryer isn’t turning properly, check the motor first. A faulty motor will cause the machine to stop spinning at random times. If you find that the motor is damaged, replace it with a new one.

If the motor is fine, then there must be something wrong with the belt. Check the belt by pulling it out and inspecting it for damage. If the belt looks worn, replace it.

A dirty machine will not work properly. Make sure to clean the drum regularly. Remove lint from the vent holes and brush off any dust build up.

If you notice that your tumbler isn’t turning as well as it used to, then it might be time to replace the belt. This is one of the easiest things to fix, so make sure to check out our guide on how to install a new belt.

Once you have carried out these steps test to see if your machine works as it should. If not then call us immediately.
