Fridge repair in Durban

Ice buildup in the freezer compartment can cause food to freeze solid. Water leaking into the refrigerator can damage the coils that keep the cold air circulating inside the unit. And when the door won’t close properly, it could let moisture in and cause mould growth.

Check the Drain Line

If you notice any of these signs, check the drain line first. It’s easy to overlook this area because it’s hidden behind the back panel of the fridge. Look for cracks in the rubber gasket that seals the drain line. Also, make sure there aren’t any clogs in the drain line. You can use a plunger to clear out any debris.

Clean Out the Filter.

Next, remove the filter by pulling it off the top of the drain pipe. Then, run warm soapy water through the drain line until the soap bubbles stop coming out. Be careful not to let the water come into contact with the electrical parts inside the fridge. Once the soap has cleared away the blockage, replace the filter.

Replace the Thermostat.

If your refrigerator isn’t cooling properly, check the thermostat first. It should be set at 3 degrees celsius  If it’s too cold, turn the temperature up. If it’s too hot, turn it down. If it‘s just right, leave it alone.

Repair Leaks.

Water leaks can cause damage to your home and appliances. Check the door seals, faucets, and pipes for signs of leakage. You can also use a moisture meter to test for moisture inside the walls.
Check the Compressor
If you notice condensation on the compressor, there might be a leak in the system. To check for leaks, turn off the power to the unit and open the access panel.
